We’re a specialist geothermal drilling contractor. Rigs, boreholes, loop installation, grouting the physical work of building a ground heat exchanger. It’s what we’re good at, and it’s all we do. What we don’t do is design the thing we’re drilling, because handing that decision to the company holding the drill Rig isn’t good engineering it’s a conflict of interest wearing a hard hat. Here’s the problem in plain terms: drilling is the biggest cost on the job. If the same business sets the design and prices the metres, there’s a built-in incentive to lean the design toward fewer, shallower, more tightly spaced boreholes and a buried loop field will never tell you it was undersized. Not on day one, not in year one. It shows up five or ten years later as a system that can’t quite keep up, running costs that won’t come down, and a ground field that never fully recovers between seasons. By then, there’s nothing left to point to. So every design we drill to comes from Genius Energy Lab, not from us. They don’t own a rig. They never will. Which means the only thing driving their sizing decisions is getting the physics right. We turn up with a fixed, independent design and drill exactly to it no self-marking, no shortcuts we’d have to explain later. If you want to know why your borefield is the size it is, the answer isn’t “because that’s what we quoted.” It’s an engineer’s name on a design, sitting outside the company doing the drilling.
