Geothermal Industries Australia (GIA) was engaged by the residential plumbing contractor to deliver the geothermal drilling scope for a prestigious project at Fisher Avenue, Vaucluse NSW. The scope required drilling 21 geothermal probes to a depth of 135 metres each on a site defined by challenging access and testing geological conditions. Vaucluse’s coastal topography presented significant hurdles, including shallow bedrock, unexpected subsurface variations, and periods of heavy rainfall that hampered drilling progress. Despite these compounding difficulties, GIA’s experienced team adapted with proactive scheduling, diligent site management, and robust drilling methodologies. Through careful coordination and round‑the‑clock responsiveness, we successfully delivered the entire 21‑probe borefield ahead of schedule.
For this installation, GIA utilised our 45DN Muovitech Turbo pipe as the geothermal probe material. The 45DN diameter provided an optimal balance of hydraulic performance and thermal transfer efficiency across the 135‑metre depth. Muovitech Turbo pipe’s enhanced wall stiffness and superior burst pressure ratings proved particularly valuable given the demanding ground conditions and the need to maintain installation integrity despite rain‑induced delays. Each of the 21 probes was carefully lowered, thermally grouted to maximise ground contact, and pressure‑tested to verify system integrity. The combination of GIA’s drilling precision and Muovitech’s advanced pipe technology ensured a durable, high‑performance geothermal loop field capable of serving the Vaucluse residence for decades.
Finally, GIA extends our sincere thanks to the residential plumbing contractor for engaging us on this challenging Fisher Avenue project. Their trust in GIA’s expertise allowed us to overcome testing site conditions and weather‑related setbacks while still delivering ahead of schedule. We greatly value such collaborative partnerships and look forward to working together again on future projects across Sydney’s eastern suburbs.
