Geothermal Industries Australia (GIA) was engaged to deliver the geothermal drilling scope for an Ingenia Communities aged care facility in Fullerton Cove, NSW. The project required drilling 16 geothermal probes to a depth of 110 metres each on a greenfield site in the Hunter region. As part of Ingenia’s commitment to sustainable, low‑carbon residential communities, the facility was designed to integrate geothermal HVAC technology to deliver superior comfort and energy efficiency for elderly residents. Working in collaboration with Ingenia’s project team and the mechanical services contractor, GIA mobilised appropriate drilling equipment to suit the local ground conditions, which consisted of layered sands, silts, and clay mixtures typical of the Fullerton Cove area. Our team successfully completed all 16 boreholes to the full 110‑metre specification, maintaining strict quality control and adhering to the project’s construction timeline.
For this installation, GIA utilised our 45DN Muovitech Turbo pipe as the geothermal probe material. The 45DN diameter was selected for its optimal thermal transfer characteristics and hydraulic efficiency over the 110‑metre depth. Muovitech Turbo pipe’s robust construction and high burst pressure ratings ensured reliable installation through the variable subsurface conditions encountered in Fullerton Cove. Each of the 16 probes was carefully installed, thermally grouted to maximise ground contact, and pressure‑tested to verify system integrity. The combination of GIA’s drilling precision and the high‑performance Muovitech Turbo pipe delivered a durable, energy‑efficient geothermal loop field that will provide consistent, silent heating and cooling for aged care residents for decades to come.
Finally, GIA extends its sincere thanks to Ingenia Communities and their consulting team for engaging us on this important aged care project in Fullerton Cove. We are proud to support Ingenia’s vision for sustainable, resident‑focused communities and look forward to future opportunities to collaborate on geothermal installations across their growing portfolio.
