Geothermal Industries Australia (GIA) was contracted by RHCS, a leading Sydney geothermal specialist, to deliver the drilling scope for a large heritage residential project. The scope required drilling 24 geothermal probes to a depth of 150 metres each on a sensitive heritage site where precision and care were paramount. Recognising the builder’s aggressive deadline, GIA mobilised three drilling rigs simultaneously to the site, a strategic decision that allowed us to dramatically accelerate the borefield installation. Through meticulous coordination of personnel, equipment, and material supply, our team worked in parallel across the site, maintaining rigorous quality control while achieving production rates well beyond what a single rig could deliver.

All 24 holes were drilled, grouted, and tested in accordance with RHCS’s ISO9001 Inspection and Test Plan (ITP) system—and remarkably, the entire scope was completed in just 9 working days. This achievement was made possible by the seamless integration of GIA’s drilling crews with RHCS’s quality management protocols. Every borehole was drilled to the full 150‑metre specification, thermally grouted to maximise ground contact, and pressure‑tested to verify system integrity, all while maintaining full traceability and documentation under the ISO9001 framework. GIA delivered the complete borefield within the builder’s required timeframe without compromising on quality or safety.

For this installation, GIA utilised our 45DN Muovitech Turbo pipe as the geothermal probe material. The 45DN diameter was selected for its superior thermal transfer characteristics and hydraulic efficiency over the 150‑metre depth. Muovitech Turbo pipe’s robust construction and high burst pressure ratings ensured reliable installation across all 24 boreholes, even as three rigs operated concurrently in close proximity on a heritage‑constrained site. The combination of GIA’s multi‑rig deployment strategy, Muovitech’s advanced pipe technology, and RHCS’s ISO9001 ITP system delivered a high‑performance, durable geothermal loop field befitting a heritage residence of this calibre.

Finally, GIA extends our sincere thanks to RHCS for engaging us as their trusted drilling partner on this demanding heritage project. Their reputation as a Sydney geothermal specialist is built on delivering excellence under pressure, and we are proud to have supported them with a three‑rig solution that drilled, grouted, and tested 24 holes to 150 metres in just 9 working days. We look forward to continuing our strong partnership with RHCS on future large‑scale and complex geothermal installations across Sydney.
