Geothermal Industries Australia (GIA) was engaged to deliver the geothermal drilling scope for an Ingenia Communities aged care and lifestyle resort project on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. The project required drilling a significant number of geothermal probes across a developing site in a warm, humid climate where efficient, low-energy cooling is paramount. Recognising Ingenia’s ambitious construction schedule, GIA executed a rapid mobilisation of multiple purpose-built geothermal drilling rigs to site, ensuring that the borefield installation would not become a bottleneck for downstream trades. Our fleet of specialised rigs, designed specifically for geothermal probe installation, allowed us to work concurrently across the site, dramatically accelerating production while maintaining precise borehole positioning and quality standards. Despite the challenges of working in Queensland’s variable ground conditions—including sandy soils, weathered rock, and seasonal weather impacts—GIA successfully completed all probes to the required depth with zero safety incidents.
For this installation, GIA utilised our 45DN Muovitech Turbo pipe as the geothermal probe material. The 45DN diameter was selected for its superior thermal transfer characteristics and hydraulic efficiency, essential for maximising system performance in Queensland’s cooling-dominated climate. Muovitech Turbo pipe’s robust construction and high burst pressure ratings ensured reliable installation through the variable subsurface conditions encountered on the Sunshine Coast. Each probe was carefully installed, thermally grouted to maximise ground contact, and pressure‑tested to verify system integrity. The combination of GIA’s rapid multi‑rig mobilisation, drilling precision, and high‑performance Muovitech Turbo pipe delivered a durable, energy‑efficient geothermal loop field that will provide consistent, silent, and low‑maintenance heating and cooling for Ingenia’s residents and guests for decades.
Finally, GIA extends its sincere thanks to Ingenia Communities for engaging us on this Sunshine Coast project. Their trust in GIA’s ability to rapidly mobilise multiple purpose-built geothermal rigs and deliver on a demanding schedule was instrumental to the project’s success. We are proud to support Ingenia’s expanding presence in Queensland and look forward to future opportunities to collaborate on geothermal installations across the Sunshine Coast and broader south-east Queensland region.
