Geothermal Industries was engaged by Sogeo—an elite geothermal contractor—to serve as the specialist drilling contractor for a high-end residential project in Carlton, Melbourne. Working on an exceptionally tight access site, Geothermal Industries successfully drilled six geothermal probes to a depth of 120 metres each. The confined urban environment, with its narrow laneways and proximity to heritage-listed terraces, required meticulous planning and the use of compact, manoeuvrable drilling equipment. Our team executed the borefield with minimal disruption to neighbours and the surrounding streetscape, demonstrating the value of specialised drilling expertise on challenging inner-Melbourne sites.

For this installation, Geothermal Industries utilised Franke geothermal probes, which were supplied directly by Sogeo. The Franke probes are recognised for their superior thermal transfer properties and robust construction, making them ideally suited to the demanding ground conditions encountered in Carlton. Each of the six 120-metre probes was installed with precision, carefully grouted to ensure long-term thermal performance, and pressure-tested to verify system integrity. The combination of Geothermal Industries’ drilling accuracy and the high-quality Franke probes delivered a reliable, energy-efficient geothermal loop field that will serve the residence for decades.
